Frequently Asked Questions
Last updated: November 2026
How do these compare to traditional stone surrounds?▾
Stone door surrounds require heavy lifting equipment and skilled stonemasons. These are lightweight enough for two people to handle and install with basic tools, cutting installation time from days to hours.
Will it look like real stone?▾
Yes — the sandstone resin finish replicates the appearance and texture of natural stone while removing the weight and installation complexity.
Is it supplied as a complete system?▾
Yes — manufactured as a matched set of pilasters, pediment, and associated mouldings, so all components align and colour-match correctly.
Will it rot, rust, or crack over time?▾
No — unlike timber (rots), natural stone (frost damage), or cast iron (rusts), these are manufactured to resist all three failure modes with no ongoing treatment.
How is it installed and maintained?▾
Standard fixings and basic tools, no specialist masonry equipment. Maintenance is limited to an occasional clean.
Can the canopy or pillars be ordered separately?▾
The Fáilte surround is normally supplied as a complete matched system so jambs, crown and mouldings colour-match. Individual components can be discussed on request for restoration or replacement projects.
Is it suitable for period-style entrances?▾
Yes — suited to both traditional Georgian- and Victorian-style entrances and contemporary new-build openings.
